About us

Independent money journalism, in plain English

Finance Easy is a personal-finance magazine for a US audience. We exist for one reason: most money problems are not caused by a lack of willpower, they are caused by rules nobody explained. How a credit card computes interest day by day. Why a $2,000 tax credit is worth far more than a $2,000 deduction. Why a claim gets denied over a clause on page nine. We write those explanations the way a knowledgeable friend would — carefully, specifically, and without a sales pitch attached.

Every article is written and edited by the Finance Easy editorial team. We publish under a single newsroom byline because our stories are the product of reporting, editing and fact-checking rather than one personality. Our readers are working adults making ordinary decisions: whether to refinance, how big an emergency fund needs to be, which retirement account to fund first, whether to itemize this year.

What we cover

Six sections, chosen because they cover almost every recurring money decision a household faces: budgeting, saving, credit and debt, investing, taxes and insurance. Within each, we prefer mechanics over predictions. We will explain exactly how average daily balance interest is calculated, or how withholding allowances flow into a paycheck, because that knowledge stays useful for decades. We will not tell you where interest rates are heading, because nobody reliably knows.

Editorial standards

  • Plain language first. If a sentence needs jargon, the jargon gets defined in the same paragraph.
  • Show the math. When we make a claim about cost, we show a worked example with real numbers so you can substitute your own.
  • No invented figures. We do not publish statistics, testimonials, ratings or guarantees we cannot support. Where a number depends on current law or market rates — contribution limits, standard deduction amounts, savings yields — we describe the mechanism and tell you to verify the current figure with the provider or the IRS.
  • No personalized advice. We are journalists, not your advisor. Our articles describe how systems work; the decision, and the responsibility for it, stays with you.
  • Independence from coverage. Nobody outside the editorial team reviews an article before publication.

How we make money

Finance Easy is funded by advertising. Ads are clearly labeled and served alongside articles; advertisers have no input into what we cover, how we cover it, or when a story runs. An advertiser can buy space on the page. They cannot buy a sentence inside the article.

What we don't do

  • No paid reviews and no sponsored articles dressed up as journalism.
  • No affiliate-driven rankings. We do not order recommendations by commission, and we do not build "best of" lists whose sequence is decided by a payout.
  • No lead generation forms that quietly sell your contact details.
  • No fear-based marketing, urgency countdowns, or guaranteed returns.

Corrections

We will get things wrong occasionally, and when we do we fix it in the open. Email corrections@finance-easy.net with the article title and the specific passage in question. We review every message. Substantive errors — anything that could change a reader's decision — are corrected in the article and noted at the bottom with the date and a short description of what changed. Typos and broken links are fixed silently. We do not quietly delete articles to make an error disappear.
